Publication of the agenda provides interested parties with information about CBP regulatory activity. The information will enable interested parties to be more aware of, and effectively participate in the regulatory activity.

  • NAFTA: Post-Entry Claims and Merchandise Processing Fee Exemption

(Description)

Proposed rule would limit the filing of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) post-entry tariff preference level (TPL) claims to one year, the same amount of time allowed for post-entry claims for NAFTA "originating merchandise." The rule would clarify, that for an importer to claim the exemption of the merchandise processing fee for goods that meet a NAFTA rule of origin even when the goods are unconditionally free, the importer is subject to the same declaration requirement that is established for claiming NAFTA duty preference. Lastly, this proposed rule would clarify that a Certificate of Origin is not required for a commercial importation for which the total value of originating goods does not exceed $2,500.

  • Country of Origin of Textile and Apparel Products

(Description)

Final rule would update, restructure and consolidate the regulations relating to the country of origin of textile and apparel products. The primary regulatory change would be the elimination of the requirement that a textile declaration be submitted for all importation’s of textile and apparel products. In addition, to improve the quality of reporting of the manufacturer of imported textile and apparel products, the rule would require that importers identify the manufacturer of such products through a manufacturer identification code.

  • Extension of Import Restrictions Imposed on Certain Categories of Archaeological Material Imported from the Pre-Hispanic Cultures of Nicaragua

(Description)

Final rule would extend import restrictions on certain categories of archaeological material imposed in 2000 for an additional five years.
